Dream of the Red Chamber: Jia Daishan Returns

The late Duke Rongguo, Jia Daishan, saw the Jia family in decline and his descendants behaving disgracefully. Because Grandmother Jia favored her second son, Jia Zheng, and his family, they had taken over the main residence while the eldest branch was cramped into the stables, drawing the Emperor’s displeasure. His wife, Lady Jia, favored the second branch too. His eldest grandson, Jia Hu, had drowned; Jia Lian was a disappointment; Jia She’s first wife had died; his daughter, Jia Min, had died young; and his second son, Jia Zheng, was a hypocritical pedant, while Lady Wang was as cruel as a snake. Then Jia Daishan died and was reborn just before saving the Emperor. This time, he was still going to save the Emperor, but he had prepared in advance, so his life was no longer in danger. Taking advantage of the occasion, Jia Daishan submitted a petition to the Emperor demanding that Jia She inherit the title. He then separated from Grandmother Jia and kept her in check, protecting Jia She’s first wife, Lady Zhang, and eldest son, Jia Hu. He guided Jia She and focused on raising Jia Hu and Jia Lian. This time, the Rongguo Mansion would remain prosperous through the generation of his grandsons, Jia Hu and Jia Lian.
