My Father Turned into a Still Life

The despair spanning two generations in the vein of Journey Under the Midnight Sun, the collapse of a life crushed by society in the vein of Screaming, and the merciless moral judgment of Confessions.

When her father mentions the three-million reward on television, there is something strange in his eyes. Three days later, he disappears. At a construction site, his daughter Morita Hitomi discovers a stranger working under her father’s name, and that face unmistakably belongs to a wanted butcher. She receives a farewell text from her father’s phone, yet comes face to face with the killer in the family’s abandoned ping-pong hall. The pursuit leads to distant Guolin Island. When sirens tear through the coastal silence, Hitomi breaks through the police cordon, only to find blood pooling everywhere and mutilated body parts, clad in brand-new white socks, that the police have dug up from the backyard. She screams from behind the police line, “Dad!”
