Siheyuan: From Famine to Glory

Reborn in 1960, Lin Yan fled the famine and became a refugee on the outskirts of Beijing.

Thanks to his electrical skills and foresight, he was specially admitted to the Red Star Steel Mill and assigned a home in Courtyard No. 95.

The colorful cast of the courtyard: the First Master, who loved moral blackmail; the Second Master, obsessed with officialdom; and the calculating Third Master; the fake white lotus Qin Huairu, the blundering fool Silly Zhu, and the petty Xu Damao...

Surrounded by these schemers, Lin Yan relied on just three things to get by:

A pair of electrician's pliers to deal with anyone who gave him trouble;

A technical manual to solve every problem;

And a clear head to keep track of every favor owed.

From apprentice electrician to eighth-grade engineer, from famine refugee to technical authority.

He crushed every scheme with his skills and earned everyone's respect through his abilities.

As the years passed and the schemers grew old, Lin Yan alone brought his wife and children from famine to prosperity, becoming the greatest legend in the courtyard.

Perhaps this, too, is a kind of legacy...
