I Was Born a Wanderer, Book 38

In the remote mountains of Yanshan lies Moshicun, where the villagers call young Lin Mo a “fool” because of his simple mind and lack of worldly experience. Yet he inherits his grandfather’s ancestral medical text and a rare ability: he can see through the human body to its ailments. Every day, he roams the mountains gathering herbs, treating the sick with what others call “foolish tricks.” He brews medicine with spring water and uses silver needles to draw out toxins. Though the villagers mock him and local doctors doubt him, he remains true to his family’s maxim: “Never charge a penny for treating the sick.”

After a chance encounter deep in the mountains, Lin Mo gains enlightenment from a mysterious black stone, fully awakening his ability and advancing his medical skills even further. He cuts open a wound to drain pus and save a traveling peddler, uses acupuncture to dispel the cold afflicting a wealthy woman, and treats rheumatoid arthritis with herbs. One difficult case after another is easily resolved in his hands. The honest village girl Li Cuier never leaves his side, bringing him food and accompanying him on his travels. Su Qingyao, a wealthy young lady hiding in the mountains to escape danger, is moved by his guileless nature and stays at his herb hut to help him.

From emergency treatments at the village threshing ground to the ceaseless work at his herb hut, Lin Mo answers doubts with compassion and earns respect through his medical skill. The name “Foolish Miracle Doctor” spreads across the countryside, drawing patients from far and wide. Amid fragrant herbs and the warmth of everyday life, he faces worldly prejudice with a sincere heart and continues his family’s medical legacy, while the companionship of two women quietly brings a series of tender, moving romances into bloom.
