The Tang Dynasty’s First Surgeon

In the Tang Dynasty, performing an autopsy was forbidden.

She was determined to do it anyway.

The foolish legitimate daughter crawled out of the woodshed, wielding silver needles to keep people alive and a willow-leaf scalpel to snatch souls.

Her stepmother’s poison became the sharp edge with which she struck back; the Imperial Medical Academy’s corruption became the target of her reforms.

They said women practicing medicine was heresy. She would prove her path through medicine and heal the world!

Then she met a prince who was gravely ill, and smiled.

“I’ll take your life. But my fee is the whole world.”

This is the story of a woman doctor who used a scalpel to carve a path to power through the schemes and bloodshed of the Tang Dynasty.
