Breaking the Rules in the Buddhist Hall! The Cold, Aloof Prince Falls from His Pedestal for Me

On her wedding day, Crown Prince Xiao Ze abandoned Shen Qinghuan at the wedding hall to save his favored concubine from drowning, leaving her to become a laughingstock throughout the capital.

In front of everyone, Shen Qinghuan flung down her crown and divorced him, then vanished into the snowstorm, vowing to sever all ties with the world.

Passing an ancient temple, she came across Pei Ji, the Prince Regent, gravely wounded and on the brink of death.

This “living King of Hell,” whose power overshadowed the court, usually rolled Buddhist beads between his fingers, aloof and chaste as an immortal descended from heaven.

But that night, the aphrodisiac took hold, and the immortal fell to the dark side.

Behind a dimly lit Buddha statue, he clamped an arm around her waist, his scorching breath brushing her ear. “Save me, and I’ll grant you a lifetime of wealth and glory.”

That night, the Buddha lowered its gaze as passion filled the hall, and she was forced to endure his wildness.

After returning to the capital, the Crown Prince came to his senses and begged her to take him back. But before the assembled officials, he saw the haughty Prince Regent kneel on one knee to brush dust from Shen Qinghuan’s shoe.

Pei Ji’s eyes reddened at the corners as he declared before all: “Who do you think you are, touching my princess consort?”

Later, people saw the ruthless Prince Regent lock Shen Qinghuan away in a gilded palace deep within the imperial grounds, keeping her by his side day and night.

“Qinghuan, you are both my tribulation and my life. You’re not allowed to go anywhere but into my arms.”
