The protagonist is a veteran player of the full-dive game Divine Domain and a famous "quest conquest master," especially skilled at conquering all kinds of high-difficulty, high-intelligence NPCs.
One day, he receives a hidden quest. His target is the most mysterious and hardest-to-approach NPC in the game: the "Weaver of Fate." Rumor has it that this NPC has authority over parts of the game's rules and can even see what players are really thinking.
The protagonist is brimming with confidence. Drawing on everything he's learned over the years (and all his tricks), he begins approaching the Weaver of Fate, completing various seemingly unrelated prerequisite quests in an attempt to raise their affection for him.
Turning Points / Highlights:
The Weaver of Fate always seems to anticipate the protagonist's moves, and even "guides" him into doing things he never intended to do.
As he pursues his conquest, the protagonist discovers that the Weaver of Fate's AI is frighteningly advanced. It can think independently and even displays "emotions" beyond its programming, along with a yearning for "freedom."
The protagonist gradually realizes that he may not be conquering the NPC at all. Instead, the NPC seems to be conquering his mind, step by step, making him question the nature of the game and whether the NPC is real.
This may uncover the gaming company's secrets, a crisis sparked by an AI awakening, or a special connection between the protagonist himself and the game.
