The Haunted Temple Afloat at Night

We spent the night in a deserted temple, where an old man told us a strange tale:

He said that once, a man meditated every night and rose into the air as if ascending to immortality. Thinking he had mastered some divine art, he later discovered a giant snake on the rafters, sucking him up.

We dismissed it as a rural ghost story and laughed it off.

But when the story was over, the old man and the child vanished into thin air.

I turned around and saw my companion, Zhang Ge, already sitting cross-legged.

His body was slowly beginning to rise off the ground...

Trembling, I lifted my head and looked toward the pitch-black rafters.

(He was still whispering excitedly, “Fan, I think... I’m starting to float.”)
