When Reason Falters

[Both leads are devoted to each other + childhood friends + reborn school life + slow-burn sweetness + secret crush + warm and cozy]

After being reborn, Zhang Yanhuan decides to repay Xu Zhiyan for his kindness in her previous life by helping him win back the girl he has secretly loved for years.

She stays up all night doing her homework and starts a “Love Class.”

“It’s all theory,” Xu Zhiyan says lazily, propping his chin on his hand. “I need practice.”

Zhang Yanhuan freezes. “Practice?”

Xu Zhiyan raises an eyebrow slightly, his gaze settling on her face. “Why don’t you be my partner?”

Before she can respond, he grabs her chair and pulls her, chair and all, over to his side.

Zhang Yanhuan instinctively tries to scoot away.

Xu Zhiyan reaches out and gently lifts her chin.

“What are you dodging for? I haven’t even done anything to you. Why are you so nervous?”

Zhang Yanhuan breathes a sigh of relief. “Oh.”

But right after that, Xu Zhiyan says, “What if I kissed you right now?”

Zhang Yanhuan: “?”

Can you still be friends after dating your best friend?

Yes, you can.

“But,” Xu Zhiyan stresses, “I need to make clear how friends are different from romantic partners.”

Zhang Yanhuan asks, “What’s the difference?”

Xu Zhiyan leans down and bites her lip. “Feel the difference? If not, I can prove it another way.”

By then, both of them are breathing a little unevenly.

Zhang Yanhuan nods nervously. “I feel it!”

Xu Zhiyan: “Are we still just friends?”

Zhang Yanhuan: “N-no.”

Xu Zhiyan: “Who am I?”

Zhang Yanhuan: “Xu Zhiyan.”

“Who is Xu Zhiyan?”

“My boyfriend.”
