A Poor Scholar’s Political Schemes and Fight Against the Current

Chen Yan, a modern graduate student in history, transmigrates by accident to the fictional dynasty of Dasheng and becomes a poor scholar. With no possessions to his name, he relies solely on his knowledge of historical texts and strategies, navigating the power struggles and endless factional rivalries at court one careful step at a time. He makes his name through policy essays and seizes opportunities, rising from an ordinary commoner to the heart of power. Yet he is constantly torn between political scheming and his conscience. With foreign enemies at the borders and corruption at home, he tries to reverse the dynasty’s decline through his own efforts, only to discover in the end that the tide of history is far beyond any one person’s power to turn.
