Cyberpunk Corpse Recovery: I Raise an Evil God in the Deep Sea

I inherited my family's corpse-retrieval ship, the Afterlife, and make a living in cybernetic seas adrift with nuclear waste. Every corpse I haul up is embedded with a priceless consciousness chip. I read their memories and sell them to the rich as electronic pets. Then I dredged up the corpse of a young heiress with no chip, whose eyes projected the shadow of a colossal creature from the deep into my palm. While pursuing the killer through the neural network, I posed as a novice programmer and infiltrated the corporate tower. By day, my supervisor chewed me out. By night, I hacked the mainframe to investigate the secrets of “Project Colossal God.” Just as I finally identified the killer, a hum from the deep shattered the glass...

The heiress's corpse, the one I had hauled up with my own hands, was standing outside the window, smiling at me.

“You woke me,” she said. “Now it's our turn to awaken the god beneath the sea.”
