I’d only taken a night-shift side job, keeping watch over an abandoned hospital.
On my first night, I heard a metallic sound coming from the second floor. Thinking a vagrant had broken in, I went to investigate, only to find a trail of wet footprints stretching out from beneath a dark hospital room. They stopped right beside my feet.
I thought it was just a one-off incident, until a few days later, I heard the same sound in my rented apartment. An unknown number kept calling, asking me the same question: “You heard it too, didn’t you?”
Then everything began to connect:
An extra figure in a photograph, a room upstairs that was supposed to be empty, a corridor that kept appearing in my dreams, a stranger who claimed to have “encountered the same thing”…
Gradually, I realized
What happened at the hospital that night wasn’t an “isolated incident.”
Someone, or rather, something, had been watching me ever since that night.
It knows where I am.
It knows I can hear it.
It’s waiting for me to return to that closed door.
And it seems I really have no choice.
