While everyone else fights for favor in the palace, she slacks off. In the end, she wins the hearts of the realm.
From the start, all it took was a bowl of meat porridge to turn the Cold Palace into a chessboard. Using her “frail and sickly” persona, she turned the entire imperial harem into an intelligence network.
The moment Shen Wangyou entered the palace, she was handed a living hell of a script:
· She was prophesied to “rule the realm as a woman,” making the Empress Dowager see her as a threat that had to be eliminated.
· She was tossed into a dilapidated courtyard by the Cold Palace, where supplies were withheld until she could barely survive.
· The Noble Consort bullied her, the Virtuous Consort plotted against her, and the Empress wielded a gentle knife. Everyone wanted her dead.
But she just smiled. “Perfect. Now I can slack off.”
So
✅ She nursed a palace eunuch who’d fainted from hunger into becoming the head of her intelligence network.
✅ She chatted with the old palace matron sent to spy on her until she became her life coach.
✅ She turned the imperial physician forced to examine her pulse into a medical ally.
✅ She even formed a strategic alliance with the Heir of Prince Ding: “You investigate the former dynasty’s case, and I’ll keep the harem in check.”
Everyone thought Consort Hui was a pitiful, sickly little flower.
Until
The Noble Consort fell, the Virtuous Consort died suddenly, the Empress “died of illness,” and the Empress Dowager was placed under house arrest…
Only then did everyone realize in horror that the consort who was always “recuperating” had quietly taken control of the entire imperial palace.
But Shen Wangyou didn’t know that the game was far bigger than she imagined:
· Behind Emperor Zhou Xuancheng’s tender gaze lay the pain of his birth mother’s bloody case from twenty years ago.
· The compassionate Master Jingxin in the Buddhist temple was actually a princess of the former dynasty who had betrayed her country.
· And the prophecy that a woman would rule the realm had been part of a shocking plot against the throne all along…
Just as she thought she was five steps ahead, someone had already laid a ten-step plan to kill the emperor and his mother.
