Rain Washes Over the Mortal World

“The rain in Qingci Town always carries a lingering murderous intent.

The downpour muddied the night, and only the Forget-Worry Teahouse at the eastern end of town still glowed with a little warmth. Its light spread through the damp darkness like tempting bait in a trap.

Inside the teahouse, steam curled through the air, mingling with the fragrance of tea.

‘Madam, a cup of clear tea.’ Her voice was not loud, yet it cut cleanly through the sound of the rain.

Jiang Yu raised her eyes, a gentle smile spreading across her face. ‘Please, come in and sit down, miss. It’s cold on a rainy night like this. A cup of hot tea will hit the spot.’ She lifted the teapot herself and walked lightly toward the table where Long Xin sat. Her skirt brushed the floor without gathering a speck of dust.

At the very moment Jiang Yu bent down to pour Long Xin’s tea

‘Whoosh!’”
