Jiangshi World: I Can Spend Merit Points to Level Up

Xu Yan transmigrates into a Republican-era world torn apart by warlord conflict and overrun by demons, becoming an unofficial disciple under Uncle Jiu at the Ren Family Town mortuary. This world features not only the zombies and ghosts of the Uncle Jiu series, but also a vast setting that incorporates several other film and TV universes, including Mr. Vampire 2, The Ultimate Vampire, and The Mystic Nine. Yet spiritual energy has run dry, making cultivation harder than ascending to heaven. From the start, Xu Yan is a frail good-for-nothing who faints just from drawing a talisman, and the looming crisis of “Old Master Ren’s corpse turning into a zombie” puts him under immense pressure to survive.

Just as Wencai and Qiusheng are mocking him and Uncle Jiu shakes his head with a sigh, Xu Yan awakens the [Merit Point Allocation System]. It’s more than a simple kill-monsters-and-level-up system: it’s a panel that can turn everything into data. He earns merit points by slaying demons and monsters, helping Uncle Jiu deal with supernatural incidents, or even simply doing good deeds in accordance with the “Way of Heaven.” Merit points can directly improve his mastery of Taoist arts, strengthen his body, and even reconstruct incomplete cultivation techniques.

Xu Yan abandons the slow, steady path of cultivation and launches into a frantic “point-farming” spree. While Qiusheng is still congratulating himself on drawing a single corpse-subduing talisman, Xu Yan has already maxed out the Maoshan Qi Refining Technique. While Uncle Jiu is struggling to deal with a bronze-armored corpse, Xu Yan has used merit points to upgrade his peachwood sword into a “thousand-year-old lightning-struck tree” sword. Starting in Ren Family Town, Xu Yan sweeps through one challenge after another. He not only changes the tragic fates of Daoist Master Qianhe, Daoist Master Simu, and others, but gradually restores the Celestial Masters’ glory as well, establishing a renowned Celestial Master mansion in this age of spiritual decline and becoming a mighty Celestial Master revered by all ghosts.
