Lost in the Mist

[Old-school melodrama + angst + tragic ending + both leads remain chaste] When Song Zhen learned that she was not the Song family’s biological daughter, but a child who had been switched at birth, she became an awkward presence in the household. The parents who had once doted on her used their years of care as leverage, begging her to help the child they had finally found. Her fiancé, who had once been in love with her, suffered a car accident and, absurdly, forgot only her. After one blow after another, Song Zhen’s heart died, and she chose to throw herself into the sea. Only after she survived the bitter, salty water did she learn that everything had been orchestrated by someone. – Yan Li finally remembered the person who appeared in his dreams every night, only to be told that all that remained of her was a cold tombstone. But the dead woman appeared in his life once more. Yan Li did not want her to return to the Song family, never realizing that she had come back with a heart full of hatred. When Yan Li awoke in the cage she had prepared especially for him, he realized that it had all been her revenge... She loved him and hated him, just as Yan Li now felt about her. – P.S. A little warning: this is full-on melodrama, with true heart-wrenching devotion. The heroine is not a strong female lead, the male lead will die, and both leads suffer. In short, it’s a story about a heroine who ends up wealthy and powerful, yet loses the person she loves.
