Jade Tea Bones: Plot

After the young top scholar Lu Jianglai takes office as magistrate of Chun'an County, he solves one strange case after another. But when he is implicated in an old murder case involving a wife, he falls from a rising star in the official world to the brink of ruin. As he lies dying, he is rescued by Rong Shanbao, daughter of the Tea King. Proud and ambitious, Lu Jianglai once clashed with the powerful Rong clan over influence, earning Shanbao's enmity. Taking advantage of his serious injuries and amnesia, and the mystery surrounding his identity, she brings him home and demotes him to the lowly position of stable hand. To evade those hunting him, Lu Jianglai goes along with the mistake and pretends to obey. When the Rong family announces that it will take in a son-in-law, the great clans of Jiangnan rush to compete, each harboring their own schemes. Lu Jianglai is drawn into the struggle by chance and, through a series of mishaps, becomes a pawn in Shanbao's game against the others. One is an ambitious heiress who plots every move; the other, a defiant, scheming stable hand full of tricks. As they match wits and spend more time together, they fall in love. Together, they brave every obstacle, solve the old case, catch the real culprit, put the family in order, and expand the tea trade, forging a celebrated love story among the tea fields.
