After experiencing “death” or finding herself in a desperate situation, Ziqi forms a soul contract with the System Youyou and begins a quick transmigration journey. In various small worlds based on television dramas, she must change the tragic fates of cannon-fodder characters. However, the beneficiaries of the status quo in each world keep obstructing Ziqi to preserve the original plot. Each world imposes a strict deadline on her mission. If she fails, the cannon fodder will suffer the same tragedy again, and Ziqi will lose crucial rewards that could affect her later missions. Initially emotionally detached, Ziqi struggles to earn the cannon fodder characters’ trust. Meanwhile, her actions, such as breaking up couples, provoke misunderstandings and hostility from characters in the original plot. But with the abilities granted by the System, she builds up knowledge and skills across different worlds and strives to overcome every obstacle. Though each successful change of fate may come at the bitter cost of upsetting some of the original world’s balance, Ziqi presses on. Along the way, she gradually rediscovers her humanity and grows from a “tool” into the “master” of her own fate.
