Old Jian's Amusing Take on Lady White Snake

Old Jian's Hilarious Take on Madam White Snake: A Thousand-Year Romance Begun with a Bowl of Sweet Rice Balls

(“Smack!” The judge's gavel struck.) Gather round, everyone, and listen as Old Jian spills the beans on this mind-bending tale of Madam White Snake!

Did the thousand-year-old snake demon Bai Suzhen really begin her journey to repay a debt of gratitude because Lü Dongbin casually tossed her a bowl of “immortal elixir rice balls”? Did the male snake demon Xiao Qing turn into a beautiful maid over a bet? Did a grudge-bearing old turtle reincarnate as Fahai, determined to break up the lovers? And was our storyteller Old Jian not only the gossip who watched it all unfold, but also the “mastermind” behind Bai Suzhen and Xu Xian's romance?

The rain at Broken Bridge in West Lake was all Xiao Qing's meddling; the prosperity of Baohe Hall came from Old Jian's terrible advice; the great flood at Jinshan Temple was full of snark; and the happy ending after the Leifeng Pagoda fell was wrapped in jokes. With a straight face, Old Jian spins outrageous nonsense, turning immortals and demons alike into punchlines. Come see how his cheeky, adorable storytelling turns this legendary love story into a hilarious tale so addictive, even Fahai couldn't hide in a crab shell from it!
