Synopsis

Shen Yue, a modern PhD in history, transmigrates to Handan in the State of Zhao near the end of the Warring States period, around 259 BC. It is just as King Zhaoxiang of Qin lays siege to Handan. Ying Zheng, the son of Prince Ying Yiren of Qin and Zhao Ji, is about three years old and held hostage in Zhao. He and his mother live in humiliation, bullied by the people of Zhao and forced to hide from place to place. With knowledge far beyond his time and an uncanny grasp of how history will unfold, Shen Yue unexpectedly becomes Ying Zheng's "big brother" and first teacher. He reshapes the future First Emperor's outlook with modern ideas, eventually helping him return to Qin, unite the Six States, and usher Chinese civilization onto the world stage ahead of its time.
