Synopsis

"Zizhi Tongjian" is a grand chronicle of general history in ancient China. It was edited by Sima Guang of the Northern Song Dynasty and recorded a total of 1,362 years of history from the Warring States Period to the Five Dynasties. This book independently organizes the "Zhou Ji" part and completely translates it into modern vernacular, striving to be easy to understand and close to contemporary readers. This translation covers a total of five volumes of "Zhou Ji", from the 23rd year of King Weilie of Zhou (403 BC) to the 59th year of King Nan of Zhou (256 BC). It vividly reproduces the historical picture of the Warring States Period in which princes competed for hegemony, political power changed, counselors were everywhere, and famous generals emerged in large numbers.
