Bungo Stray Dogs: Dazai's Alive, So He Might as Well Keep Living

The first time Dazai Osamu saw Yoshida Haruha at the Port Mafia's training ground, she was throwing a male member much bigger than herself over her shoulder and slamming him to the ground. Her movements were crisp and precise, but her eyes were as empty as a pool of dead water.

“New recruit?” he asked with interest, leaning against the doorframe, his airy voice mingling with the sweat-damp air of the training ground.

Haruha released the man pinned beneath her and stood up without even breathing hard. She looked at Dazai, her eyes lingering for a moment on the bandages around his wrist, then flashed a smile that was almost provocative.

“Yoshida Haruha,” she said. “It's a pleasure.”

That was where their acquaintance began, steeped in a mutual hatred neither of them needed to voice.

Later, he asked her why she tried so hard to live. She said, “I don't know. I see everyone else living, so I do too.”

All right, all right, I'm terrible at writing blurbs. Just check out the story itself, and feel free to judge it for yourselves, discerning readers.
