Wild Grass Grows Untamed: The Fated Lady of August

A heart-wrenching tale of a bygone era + an inspiring woman + medical knowledge and folk remedies + a sweeping epic of real life My name is Huang Guixiang. Grandma said I was born under the “Lady's Star” on the eighth day of the eighth lunar month. But the first half of my life was like that of a stray dog nobody wanted. I was born in 1948, deep in the mountains of Guizhou, the fourth daughter in the family, another “money-losing burden.” My parents yearned so desperately for a son that their eyes turned red. After me came two more girls. In the famine years, food was precious and a daughter's life was worthless. But Heaven played another trick on me: he was impotent! This marriage without sex or love was like an elegant tomb. Was I, Huang Guixiang, really destined to spend my whole life as a widow in all but name? 【Awakening: Growing wild】 I divorced twice and became the “loose woman” despised by the whole village. But I refused to believe fate had the final say! I rolled up my sleeves and started with a little basket stall, gritting my teeth through everyone's scorn and mockery. In this era, there are too many wolves eager to kill a single woman. I'll show them what it means that a barefoot person has nothing to fear from someone wearing shoes! 【Turning the tables: Showing my edge】 It wasn't until I met Li Ningde, a man who had studied at a private school,
