The Rogue Becomes an Official

[Rebirth, officialdom, grassroots politics, rural life, farming, hooligans, and underworld tricks] A realistic story, loosely adapted from several real cases. The pacing is moderate, and there are no brainless characters. If that bothers you, don’t read. The first 100,000 words focus on relationships; after that, the story turns to a career in government. At the turn of the millennium, Mengnan County, a border region of Nanjiang Province, is in the midst of its most frenzied period of development. Reborn, the rogue Ximen Xiao changes the course of his life. In his previous life, he took the wrong path and was executed by firing squad. This time, with his fearless hooligan streak and quick, adaptable mind, he thrives in both love and politics. This book will show you things you wouldn’t normally know about or see. For instance, village officials in the countryside aren’t all powerful, as they are in TV dramas and other novels. Many are little more than figureheads. Also, many readers may not know that the country has eight democratic parties that participate in government. Their roles and significance will feature in this book. There will also be local customs, traditional culture, and underworld tricks, among other things.
