My Half-Ripe Wife

On the day they were supposed to register their marriage, the civil affairs office lost power. Lin Zhixia looked at the stern-faced man in the sharply tailored suit and thought, Is this guy a robot? Gu Xingzhou looked at the woman clutching milk tea and glancing around nervously and thought, Is she completely helpless in everyday life? As it turned out, they were both half right. She was a creative director at an advertising agency, sharp-tongued and so absent-minded at home that she could mistake salt for sugar. He was an architect, meticulous at work but such a hopelessly clueless guy at home that he could even break a microwave. After their whirlwind marriage, their daily routine went like this: “Who’s doing the dishes today?” “Rock, paper, scissors. Loser does them.” “You threw late. Again!” ...Half an hour later, the dishes were still soaking in the sink, while the two of them were locked in a debate over a “loophole in the rules.” His idea of romance was giving her a singing cactus. Her idea of tenderness was tricking him into giving up an entire weekend with a “Chore-Free Coupon.” From getting on each other’s nerves to working together in perfect sync, from everyday trifles to life’s big choices, this is the hilarious adjustment period of a couple who are still figuring things out. They bickered their way into growing old together.
