[A Sichuan-flavored CEO romance + goofy comedy + a mix of sweetness and heartbreak]
“You idiot! You think you can afford to pay for my Maybach?”
Lin Xiaoya is delivering hot pot on her electric scooter when one drift splashes Shen Moyao’s designer suit with spicy, hot-pot flavor. In return, she gets a death glare from the ultimate Chongqing CEO.
Who would’ve thought this son of a gun would play by his own rules? He insists she become his personal assistant, doubles her salary, and treats her to hot pot every meal. He keeps insisting, “I just want you to make it up to me,” then turns around and rents out an entire skewer restaurant to spoil her, sends her a limited-edition gift box of facing-heaven chilies, and puts anyone who gives her a hard time in their place. “You dare mess with my woman? You’ve got a death wish!”
Lin Xiaoya shoots back, “Shen Moyao, did you get your head caught in a door? I don’t want your money!”
But she can’t keep up with the CEO’s wild pursuit tactics. He falls in the mud on a country path looking for her, works as a hot-pot restaurant helper when they live together, and adds chili peppers to his rival’s coffee when he gets jealous. His pursuit hits rock bottom, and he cries, “Xiaoya, my life has no flavor without you!”
A love rival shows up, the family objects, and villains stir up trouble?
Xiaoya rolls up her sleeves. “What’s there to be afraid of? I’ll win over the clients with Sichuan cuisine, put fake sweet girls in their place with Sichuan sass, and team up with my uncle to take down that scumbag!”
Shen Moyao pulls her into his arms and vows in Sichuan dialect, “I’m gonna marry you no matter what, eat hot pot with you for the rest of my life, and protect you forever!”
They bicker in dialect from start to finish, with so many jokes you’ll spit out your food. The sweet parts are almost sickeningly sweet, the heartbreak never gets melodramatic, and the workplace drama, pursuit, and career-building are all immensely satisfying. It’s downright fantastic!
