Inspired by the game Dragon Soul: Strange Tales of the Magic City
When code breaks through the boundaries of virtual reality and dragon souls dormant for a thousand years emerge, a crisis of cognitive contamination suddenly engulfs the Magic City. Game developer Tan Yaxin and her partner Zhang Junwei unexpectedly become dragon-soul contractors. Guided by the golden-red dragon Zhuoye, they embark on an adventure to subdue dragon souls and track down the source of the contamination.
From a pedestrian street dazzled by countless lights to the symbol traps of an abandoned mall, from a maze of memories deep within a school to the frozen trials of a riverside park, they travel through one pseudo-cocoon after another, where reality and illusion intertwine. They form contracts with sixteen dragon souls, including the Black Moon Dragon, Tungsten Steel Dragon, and Heavenly Grace Dragon, and gather forces to defend their world. As their investigation deepens, clues emerge: the mysterious “Observers” organization, the “Zhao” character branded at the Sanxingdui ruins, and blood-oath seals belonging to the five great families. The conspiracy behind Zhou Xuci, a researcher who vanished ten years ago, gradually comes to light. He intends to release the chaotic monster Heruo Shen and reshape reality through cognitive contamination.
The Zhulong bloodline within Tan Yaxin awakens. Together with Chen Mo, a descendant of the Chen family, she joins forces with the power of belief of tens of millions of contractors around the world to wage the final battle at the heart of the Magic City’s dragon vein. Using bloodlines as a bridge and belief as a blade, they lay down a seal of eternal symbiosis.
