Shen Zhenzhu was born into a distinguished family and was chosen as the wife of Li Yu, Prince of Guangping. She bore his eldest son, Li Shi, who later became Emperor Dezong of Tang. Afterward, Li Shi posthumously honored her as Empress Ruizhen. Though she was merely a woman from Jiangnan, she was kindhearted, cared deeply for the realm, and treated others with kindness. During the An Lushan Rebellion, she chose to stay in Chang'an and share the people's fate, earning their respect. Though the general Mo Yanchuo pursued her while they were separated, she remained steadfast in her love for Li Yu.
