Adrift in the Phantom Realm

Three hundred years ago, a laboratory accident led human scientists to discover the Phantom Realm. They also learned that human imagination could give rise to worlds within it. Two hundred years ago, humanity secured the first passage between the material world and the worlds of imagination. One hundred years ago, the World Government allowed people to explore the worlds of imagination on a large scale. But as huge numbers of people poured into these worlds, many were destroyed in just thirty years, eventually triggering the Phantom Realm Cataclysm. Countless creatures of imagination flooded into the real world, plunging it into chaos. In the end, the World Government destroyed every passage between the real world and the worlds of imagination. It took ten years to eradicate the powerful, aggressive creatures that had crossed over. But when the Phantom Realm Cataclysm struck, countless people were stranded in the Phantom Realm. With the passages between the two realms destroyed, they had no choice but to remain there forever. The protagonist of this book, Zhuang Shisan, is descended from humans of the real world and humans of the worlds of imagination. After coming of age, he chooses to leave his parents and set off on a life of wandering and adventure through the worlds of imagination.
