The Calamity of the Sunken Abyss

Lin Xiaoxing, a second-year police academy student, is a hot-blooded, impulsive good-for-nothing when it comes to everyday life. He has a terrible sense of direction and disastrous cooking skills, but his extraordinary “detail radar” lets him spot clues everyone else misses. Sweet and shy by nature, he can summon surprising courage when it matters, and truly shines in his field.

Lu Chen, a 24-year-old special forces squad leader, is an unbeatable fighter and a straight-laced man of principle. He isn’t much of a talker, but his ears turn red whenever Xiaoxing gets close, and he’s endlessly indulgent of Xiaoxing’s airheaded ways. He also has a fiercely protective streak reserved just for him.

A mishap during a police academy field exercise sends Xiaoxing, lost as usual, blundering into the training grounds, where Lu Chen subdues him on the spot. That is where their bond begins. From thefts near the academy to an interprovincial smuggling ring and then an international crime operation, Xiaoxing’s gift for spotting details and Lu Chen’s ironclad abilities complement each other perfectly, making them a highly compatible team in military-police cooperation.

Together, they face a flash flood during field training, break through investigative dead ends, and protect each other in life-or-death situations. They also weather workplace harassment and outside opposition, growing rapidly in their respective fields. From the awkwardness of exchanging contact information to the easy coordination of fighting side by side, from quietly worrying about each other to resolutely moving forward together, they write a story of growth, trust, and protection through their sense of duty and steadfast commitment.

The thrill of rising above workplace adversity, the warmth of mutual devotion, and the seamless teamwork between soldiers and police intertwine through each case and challenge, ultimately leading to career success and a peaceful, happy ending.
