At twenty-one, Xu Zhining became the lady of the Xie family in Harbor City.
Her new husband, Xie Yan, was the pride of the heavens, noble and exceptional. His one flaw was his unhealthy possessiveness and insatiable appetite for her in certain ways.
When passion clouded her judgment, she often lost herself in his tenderness and focus, mistaking desire for love, until a typhoon brought the woman in Xie Yan’s heart back to Harbor City.
One was a powerful figure who ruled Harbor City; the other was a brilliant architectural designer. Everyone in the city envied them, and everyone waited for them to rekindle their romance.
Heartbroken, Xu Zhining decided to let them be together.
She asked for a divorce and returned to Shencheng.
She thought that from then on, they would live far apart and never meet again.
Until, after politely turning down her twentieth blind date, she ran into him again.
He looked at her, crushed the cigarette in his hand, and stared with bloodshot eyes. “Did he touch you?”
“Zhizhi, be good. Come back to me.”
He was dark and consumed by madness, while Xu Zhining couldn’t understand why.
Not until later, when she opened that dusty handwritten journal.
The last page read: “Eight hundred and thirty-two days. I’ve lost you for the second time. Zhizhi, the cherry tree we planted together has turned red so many times.”
The storyline has room for imagination, and both men and women have their own mouths. Although not many, I quite like the characters.
