His father is dead! His family is ruined! He's been framed! Chen Jiushan's life in the Republic of China begins on nightmare difficulty!
Local gentry persecute him, the authorities hunt him, and a great drought leaves the land of Guanzhong strewn with corpses. Clutching his father's body at the foot of the mountains in Qinghuawan, he swears through tears of blood: “Today I take to the hills, and I'll kill every last one who deals injustice!”
Making himself king of the mountain, he lays down strict rules: seize the officials' grain and share it with the people; kill tyrants and fight warlords!
A rusty hunting knife cuts through the darkness of a chaotic age. A banner bearing the words “King of Qinghua” gives the people hope. He takes grain from warlords, saves people from starvation, and kills evil gentry, becoming the most fierce and righteous bandit of the age!
But great trees catch the wind. Warlord Liu Zhenhua sends Zhao Hu and a large force to suppress him, while Zhou Heihu of Black Wind Stronghold takes advantage of the chaos. Qinghuawan is surrounded on all sides!
The scholar Shen Mo bursts into the stronghold with a secret letter, bringing the spark of revolution. Chunxing is captured while trying to save the people, and becomes a bargaining chip for the enemy army!
“Either you let the people go, or I'll flatten your barracks!”
Chen Jiushan grips his bloodstained hunting knife and leads his brothers down the cliff. Traps are everywhere and shells rain down. Chunxing sets the grain depot ablaze, Zhou Heihu turns against his allies, and a bloody battle shakes the land!
In the end, Chen Jiushan falls on the soil of Qinghuawan while protecting the people's escape.
Months later, Shen Mo returns with the revolutionary army and destroys their enemies, avenging him! Before the blank tombstone, the wild grass Chunxing planted grows green year after year. The “King of Qinghua” lives on in the people's stories, an undying legend of a chaotic age!
A thrilling ride from start to finish, with heart-wrenching tragedy and one satisfying payoff after another. You'll regret missing it!
