A bloodstained invitation draws Shen Moxin, a psychology expert, to an isolated island manor cut off from the world.
Eight distinguished guests. A carefully orchestrated invitation to die.
A storm erupts, communications go down, and the island becomes a sealed chamber. On the night of the banquet, the manor’s owner, Gu Chongshan, drinks poison and “dies.” With his dying breath, he declares, “The trial begins.”
Panic spreads, and the rules are merciless:
“Those who witnessed the New Moon Lake case, confess your sins in turn.
Liars will pay with their lives.”
A has-been movie star, a former politician, an acclaimed doctor, a mysterious tycoon… Their long-buried crimes are tightly intertwined with the unsolved case of a teenage girl that has lain dormant for fifteen years. Deaths follow one after another, their order matching the “crimes” they committed back then down to the last detail.
Shen Moxin must piece together the truth while navigating danger at every turn, only to discover that every clue points to an even deeper conspiracy. Then Gu Chongshan’s icy voice rings out over the broadcast once more:
“Do you really think I was the first to die?”
When procedural justice becomes a mere fig leaf, can justice that comes late still be called justice?
This is the ultimate trial, with lives on the line. No one is exempt.
