The Urban Taoist: One Ridiculous Move Turns the Underworld Upside Down

Li Chu Yi, the last “idiot Taoist” of Qingniu Temple, was forced to enter the city after the temple collapsed, carrying out his master's dying wish: find the Suppression Pearl and stop an invasion from the Yin Realm. He acts carefree, is always hungry, and has his feet firmly on the ground, but he was born with a Yin-Yang constitution. His “foolishness” is actually pure, righteous energy that restrains evil spirits. His cultivation methods are completely absurd: eating a good meal raises his cultivation, drawing talismans with snot dispels evil, and dismantling cursed objects levels him up, overturning every traditional image of a Taoist priest. In the bustling yet ghost-story-haunted city of Linjiang, he rapidly breaks through realms through his “reverse cultivation” while solving bizarre cases involving a hair-combing ghost, a mirror demon, and soul-refining. Along with Lin Wan, a female ghost, Wang Fugui, a restaurant owner, and others, he forms the “Idiot Cultivation Squad.” Through hilarious antics, they fight evil cultivators and a thousand-year-old Ghost King. Though he seems to stumble into solutions by sheer luck, his unusual constitution and heartfelt kindness make him an unlikely hero protecting the city. And behind it all lies a secret tied to his own origins and the balance of the Three Realms.
