Doomsday Overture: Silence and Laughter

Rule One: No laughing. Rule Two: No crying. Rule Three: Don't make a sound! After the Apocalypse, the “Laughing Nightmare” virus hits the world with a mute button. The infected laugh uncontrollably and hunt down every “discordant” source of sound. Chen Wei crawls out of a pile of corpses at his school. With his deskmate Lin Wan and a child he picked up, he sets out on a desperate journey to find his parents. Their enemies are not only the “Laughers,” transformed from former teachers and friends, but also the suspicion and despair spreading among the survivors, and the fear deep within them of “making a sound.” With the city turned into a hunting ground where sound is used as bait, they must tread as quietly as possible to carve out a bloody path to tomorrow. “Don't make a sound. They're coming.” The author's inspiration came from Mo Qianhui's Douyin account.
