Criminal Investigation Unit: Major Case Unit Six

My name is Xu Kun. Xu, as in Cai Xukun; Kun, as in Cai Xukun.

That is why people are always calling me “Comrade Cai.”

While the killers are still wondering who this “Comrade Cai” is, my gun is already pressed against the small of their backs.

A dismembered body at the docks, a poisoning in a wealthy family, an influencer's bizarre livestream fall to her death... Every seemingly flawless crime is riddled with holes in my eyes.

They think their crimes are airtight? I specialize in tearing them apart. The veteran detectives say I have “eyes for crime” and can see into the darkest corners of the human heart. The truth is, I just understand a psychopath's logic better than they do. Take the serial killer who strikes only on rainy nights: whenever he appears, a pair of limited-edition sneakers flashes across the surveillance footage.

“Brother Cai, we checked. Only ten pairs were sold in the whole city.”

I open the car door and slap my service pistol onto the passenger seat.

“Come on. Let's ask the other nine ‘collectors’ why they just happened to stick around and watch the crime scene.”
