Sang Ningqi's brows knitted together at once. “Ji Daonan, how did you get in?!” She had clearly changed to a high-security lock. “You!” Sang Ningqi was so angry she wanted to hit him. “That's illegal entry!”
Ji Daonan set down the documents, stood up, and strode over to her on long legs. Looking down at her, he wore the faintest hint of a smile. “We're partners, and your safety is my top priority. Besides, I'm here for today's first treatment.”
“Treatment for what? You look perfectly fine to me!” Sang Ningqi grumbled as she walked around him to get some water.
But he grabbed her wrist and gave it a gentle tug. She fell, completely by surprise, into his solid, warm embrace. His clean masculine scent mingled with a faint hint of cedar, enveloping her instantly.
“Hey! Let go of me!” Sang Ningqi struggled and jabbed her elbow backward.
As if he'd expected it, Ji Daonan clamped an arm around her waist like an iron vise, while his other hand easily restrained her elbow. He rested his chin lightly on the crown of her still-damp hair and spoke in a lazy, husky voice. “Don't move. The doctor says my condition needs a calm, stable state of mind, and... the comforting presence of someone close. My heart rate only returns to normal when I'm holding you.”
His breath brushed her ear, sending a shiver through her. Sang Ningqi's ears flushed despite herself, and she was both embarrassed and furious. “That's nonsense! What doctor? I think you're just trying to take advantage of me!”
“I'm not a doctor! And you're twisting my words!” Sang Ningqi stamped on his foot, but he nimbly dodged.
In a low, husky voice, he said, “But you're the only one who can cure me. Ningqi, don't be so stingy!”
