Those titles are just for fun. Here's the official synopsis:
My name is Ryan, and I'm an utterly ordinary engineer, or at least I was before I transmigrated.
Now I'm a lowly mechanical apprentice in Forge City, spending my days with rusty gears and leaky valves. The one piece of good news is that there's an “auxiliary System” in my head that issues bizarre missions. The bad news is that it works only when it feels like it, and keeps telling me to fix boilers that scream and brass pipes that weep.
Then I met Serephina, the wanted “Aether Witch.” She said she could hear the heartbeat of machines, that my modified steam gun was “too loud,” and that I “reeked of logic that doesn't belong in this era.”
Now we're being hunted by inquisitors from the Royal Society, have bounties on our heads from gear-gangsters, and are surrounded by a bunch of immortal lunatics calling themselves “players.” Some want to help me, while others just want to take me apart and use me as a quest item.
All I want is to figure out two things:
What does that thing in my head want me to become?
And in a world that makes gods with reason and rules through madness, how can an engineer survive with nothing but a wrench and a few equations?
This book "Forge City" is simply a "Time Travel Engineer Survival Guide"! The protagonist, Ren, was a man who worked as a scientist in his previous life. In this life, he was reduced to a different world to repair boilers, and had to serve a cheating system that frequently issued strange tasks - to build screaming boilers and weeping copper pipes. It was like the scene of a horror movie in the mechanical world. Until he met the wanted "Energy Witch" and was hunted by the whole city. He also ran into a group of "players" who couldn't kill him and always wanted to tear him down. In this world where rationality is used to create gods and madness is used to rule, Renn has a wrench in his left hand and a formula in his right hand to survive hardcore. The setting is novel, the rhythm is soaring, and the writing style is humorous and a little cybernetic. If you like the chaos of "system literature + steampunk + magical daily life", this book is definitely worth reading!
To be honest, it's pretty good, but they are really a pair of hard-luck mandarin ducks\(`Δ')/
