Cultivating Vajra in the City

Buddha is the Dao, and all paths share the same origin. The wisdom of the Diamond Sutra is the manifestation of the Dao’s original heart in the world. This book makes the modern city its training ground, using fiction to explore the truth of the Dao. It teaches you to see through attachments and brush away delusions, cultivating your true nature amid the ordinary bustle of everyday life and attaining freedom through enlightenment. Li Ming finds the Dao amid the ups and downs of the workplace and the complications of human relationships. He cultivates his mind by abiding nowhere, and views the world without self or form. Only by shedding greed, anger, and attachment, and letting go of the constraints of the external world, can we understand that the Dao is not found in remote wilderness or ancient temples, but in the everyday world. True strength does not come from conquering the world outside, but from following the Dao and staying true to oneself, attaining great freedom and composure amid the clamor of the world. Refine the heart amid worldly life, realize the Dao in the ordinary world, and walk the Great Way with the nature of the Diamond.
