My Rough Patch in the Civil Service

A "Scammer" at a Blind Date, My "Boss" at Work: A Diary of My Run of Bad Luck in the Civil Service > Lin Xi, a star mediator at the civil affairs bureau, is pressured by her family to go on a blind date. > "He's thirty-eight and a deputy department-level official," her mother stresses over the phone. > Looking at the refined man before her, Lin Xi sneers. "Are scammers really this ambitious now?" > She blocks him on WeChat right there. "Impersonating a senior official is illegal, you know?" > The next day, a new bureau chief takes office. At the welcome reception, Lin Xi is struck dumb. > The man onstage smiles faintly. "I'm Gu Zheng. From now on, I'll be overseeing your work." > He puts extra emphasis on the last three words, and the documents in Lin Xi's hands scatter across the floor. > Later, red-eyed, she slams his office door. "Chief Gu, you've overseen my work thoroughly enough. What else do you want to oversee?" > He locks the door behind him and pins her against the filing cabinet. "For instance... teaching you not to block your future husband?"
