What?! Ma Wencai Insists on Becoming My Lover

I, Jiang Panxi, am the daughter of the Minister of Personnel and the granddaughter of the Xie family of Chen Commandery.

My three older brothers are powerful figures at court, so I had a wish-fulfillment storybook life from the start.

Chen Guanlin version

But all I want is to disguise myself as a man and head to Nishan Academy in pursuit of poetry and far-off places.

My goal is to travel incognito, enjoy the gossip and watch the drama, and maybe catch a glimpse of the legendary arrogant young master Ma Wencai.

But what is the deal with Ma Wencai?

When I debate him, he calls me a sophist, then stays up all night studying my arguments.

When I invent a flying lantern, he acts unimpressed, then turns around and drives away the people who came to pick a fight with me.

Then my secret identity as a woman is exposed, and he corners me against a wall. As the way this “good brother” looks at me grows more and more suspicious, alarm bells ring in Jiang Panxi’s head, and she prepares to make a quick getaway.

But he grabs her, his gaze dark and dangerous, his eyes red-rimmed and his voice hoarse. “Jiang Panxi, you’ve deceived me so cruelly…”

Jiang Panxi: “???”

She tries to struggle free. “Brother Ma, calm down! Weren’t we supposed to be sworn brothers?”

He leans closer, their breaths mingling. “…I’ve changed my mind. We don’t have to be.”
