The Taoist Priest in the Village

In our technologically advanced modern age, the ancient gods have quietly fallen silent, and mysterious traditions are dismissed as superstition. Yet shadows still grow in corners untouched by neon light.

Qin Zhong, a young man raised in Jiangnan’s Qishui Village, is known to the villagers as “Little Taoist Qin.” He tends the small Taoist temple left behind by his adoptive father, spending his days with the Yellow Court Scripture and cinnabar talismans, indifferent to the bustling world beyond the mountains. Stiff by nature and clueless about romance, he believes that everything follows the “Way,” and that ghosts and spirits are simply another kind of “trouble” to deal with.

That is, until a geological survey team arrives, especially Su Jin, a rational and discerning doctoral researcher who tries to explain everything he does through science. Meanwhile, strange incidents multiply in the village, undercurrents stir, and the vast shadow of an organization called the Netherworld Hall begins to emerge. It covets the ancient secrets sleeping beneath the village’s peaceful facade and intends to overturn the world as it is.

When the clamor of the city collides with the quiet of the countryside, and scientific reason challenges the mysteries of the occult, Qin Zhong, a village Taoist priest who fits in nowhere, has no choice but to leave his pastoral home and enter an entirely new and bizarre battlefield.

Talismans face off against firearms, while the Eight Trigrams and mystic arts enter the flood of data. See how this romance-blind Taoist uses the most traditional methods to vanquish demons and protect his home in the most modern of worlds, blazing a path to immortality all his own.
