Blazing War Corps, 1939

We were on our way to win the world championship when we and our base were transported to 1939, and our bodies shrank to those of kids.

Seeing my four teammates, all turned into little tykes too, I was completely dumbfounded.

Our engineer, a homebody, had his eye on a local’s iron wok and said he wanted to build a “nonlinear dynamics trap.”

The medic girl picked up tree roots and weeds, insisting she could synthesize antibiotics.

Our tech genius took a keen interest in the land god’s offering of a cannon at the village entrance.

Our intelligence expert had already convinced the village chief that we were a “team of prodigies from the South Seas.”

All I wanted was to keep this bunch of troublemakers alive until the end.

That was until my “wok-lid confusion formation” left the Japanese invaders reeling, his “flying thunder cannon” was hailed by our allies as a “no-conscience cannon,” and she traded a recipe for “otaku happiness water” to the Nationalists for a battalion’s worth of equipment...

Major Sakata raged helplessly at headquarters. “Baka! Their tactics aren’t in any book!”

The five of us exchanged smiles and stood shoulder to shoulder on the front line.

“Reporting in! The Xiaolizhuang Children’s Corps requests permission to fight!”
