Evergreen Guardian Spirit: Starting in 2000

In 2024, criminal investigation expert Gu Chen transmigrates unexpectedly to the turn of the millennium, becoming an unemployed young man preparing for the civil service exam. Using his foresight into the future direction of law and public security, he predicts the exam questions with uncanny accuracy and is spotted by a discerning examiner, who brings him into the public security system.

Starting at a police station on the outskirts of the city, Gu Chen uses future technology to outclass the outdated investigative methods of the 2000s. He repeatedly distinguishes himself during major events such as the SARS response and Olympic security operations. After achieving financial independence through legal stock market investments, he remains steadfast in his principle of never bending the law, becoming a bold innovator in the fight against organized crime and the reform of the judicial system.

Over twenty-five years in law enforcement, Gu Chen witnesses the era's transformation from the Skynet Project to smart policing. While helping draft the Anti-Organized Crime Law, he finally discovers that his transmigration was part of a talent-development program run by the Temporal Administration. When he receives his second-class police commissioner insignia, his hair now graying at the temples, the troubled young man he once saved in the interrogation room has become the new head of the criminal investigation division.
