The New Deer and the Cauldron: Wei Xiaobao, the Science Student

Wei Xiaobao, a top student in science and engineering at a modern top-tier university, is caught in an experimental explosion and transmigrates into the body of a boy named Wei Xiaobao in a Yangzhou brothel. Faced with a world both familiar and strange, he retains the original character’s quick wit, eloquence, and ridiculous good luck, but completely abandons his gambling instincts and opportunism. He believes that “everything can be modeled, and everything follows a logic,” and resolves to use the tools of reason to measure this emotional world of martial arts and intrigue. He uses his chemistry knowledge to neutralize Hai Dafu’s poison, applies mathematical modeling to optimize the palace guards’ patrol routes, uses basic physics to create weapons far ahead of their time, and draws on game theory to maneuver among Kangxi, the Heaven and Earth Society, and the Divine Dragon Cult… See how this “scientific Duke Wei” uses scientific thinking to unravel political schemes, revolutionize martial arts, and serve the people. While preserving all seven of his marriages, he blazes a legendary path that balances the greater good of the nation with his own principles, becoming an honorable Duke Wei remembered throughout history. My new book, A Comprehensive Compendium of Chinese Mythological Tales, is now available. Please enjoy.
