Even Shadows Once Chased the Light

This is a decade-long, unspoken crush, and a brave coming-of-age story about breaking free and spreading one's wings.

Song Yuan spent her entire youth gazing at one figure: Chu Huaiyuan. From elementary school through high school, he was always the brightest star in the crowd, while she was the quietest shadow in the corner, secretly preserving every flutter of her heart and every hope in a thick notebook.

Desperate to stand by his side, she gave it everything she had, making “getting into A University” her sole purpose. When her dream came true and they met again on campus, Song Yuan realized that what stood between them was not only the dazzling light surrounding Chu Huaiyuan and his childhood sweetheart, but also the distance rooted in her heart, forged by ten years of looking up to him.

This time, Song Yuan decided to be a little braver. She would no longer settle for being a mere bystander in his life. She joined the literature club, competed for scholarships, and made her voice heard on a bigger stage... Step by step, she left her comfort zone and tried to become a light in her own right.

When the “shadow” of the past began to shine, Chu Huaiyuan finally looked back and saw the girl he had known for so long, yet suddenly found so unfamiliar. He tried to get closer, only to discover that the gaze that had once followed him in silence had become independent and resolute.
