After transmigrating to the end of the Dragon-Han Calamity, Li Ping’an becomes a dying pangolin. His life in the primordial world begins in hell mode.
No System, no innate supreme treasure, just a fragment of the Kun Yuan Spirit-Nurturing Manual and a chronicle of major events in the primordial world from a later age.
He knows all too well that in this world, where even Great Luo Golden Immortals are like ants, recklessness means death and power-fantasy plots are pure fiction. His only path is to tread carefully and plan before acting.
And so the primordial world gains a seemingly harmless “good guy” who makes friends wherever he goes.
He helps the surviving Qilin gather their dead, trades feathers with down-and-out descendants of the Fenghuang, scavenges “junk” on the battlefield between Dao and Demon, asks Zhen Yuanzi to teach him the ways of the earth’s ley lines, pays his respects to the Three Pure Ones as a disciple would, and even “accidentally” wrecks several of the Western Two Sages’ early schemes...
Through the Dragon-Han, the Witch-Demon, and the Investiture of the Gods calamities, he appears to go with the flow, struggling to survive in the cracks of history all the while.
Then, on the eve of the Journey to the West, the Sages discover to their astonishment that the hidden pieces Li Ping’an, the ever-smiling man of “utterly ordinary” strength, has quietly placed are scattered across the Three Realms. He stands behind the scenes, holding a jade slip titled “Plan to End Hongjun’s Monopoly Over Heaven’s Will,” and bares his fangs to the immortals of the myriad heavens.
“Fellow Daoist, times have changed. Let’s play this calamity by different rules.”
