Foxbound at Shoushan: My Spirit Medium's Journal

Chen Mo (female lead): A 22-year-old college student who believes in modern materialism. After her family falls on hard times, she becomes a disciple of a shamanic practitioner. Tough and rational, she initially rejects the supernatural world outright, but gradually grows through hardship and becomes a vital link between tradition and modernity.

Hu Tianba (Fox Immortal Patriarch): A fox immortal who has cultivated for a thousand years and serves as Chen Mo’s presiding spirit. Powerful and imposing, yet neither wholly good nor wholly evil, he shares an old connection with Chen Mo’s great-grandfather. He is both her mentor and her greatest trial.

Zhang Qingyun (male lead): A 25-year-old rising star of the younger generation at Longhu Mountain, sent down the mountain to investigate disturbances at Shoushan. He strictly follows the righteous path and is stern and taciturn. At first, he considers shamanic practitioners to be heretics, but fighting alongside Chen Mo gradually teaches him to understand and respect a different path of cultivation.

Huang Xiaopao (Yellow Immortal): The vanguard of the spirit altar, clever and mischievous. Skilled at gathering information and creating illusions, he provides much of the story’s comedy and information.

Liu Qingyun (Willow Immortal): The most powerful fighter at the spirit altar, calm and taciturn, responsible for combat and protection.

Main antagonist: The lingering soul of a “ghost Taoist” who practiced forbidden arts during the Republican era. He seeks to exploit Shoushan’s unusual feng shui and the power of the Five Immortals to become an immortal through ghost cultivation and overturn the balance of yin and yang.
