Courtroom Shadows. Protagonist: Yuchi Gong. Yuchi Gong is a great general who discovers that treacherous ministers in the palace are conspiring with foreign enemies. He pretends to indulge in drink and women while secretly sending trusted men to gather evidence. The princess sees through his intentions and offers him letters proving that the ministers are colluding with the enemy. He presents the evidence at court and helps the emperor purge the corrupt faction. Afterwards, he refuses a reward, asking only to continue guarding the borders.
