A Female Army Doctor's Healing Hands Amid the Flames of War

On the eve of Nanjing's fall in 1937, Jiang Jingshu, a doctor who had studied abroad, runs against the tide of fleeing people into Jinling Hospital, engulfed in flames. There, she meets Lu Chengjun, an officer bearing three identities. Amid the ruins, the two uncover irrefutable evidence of the Japanese army's germ warfare. As they carry the evidence through a hail of gunfire, they have no idea that they, too, have become specimens in someone else's experiment. Anthrax samples swirl inside the perfume bottle of White, an American military observer. Qin Yuemei, head of the Juntong's communications office, hesitates between her lover and her duty, while Yamaguchi Ryoko, treated as a living test subject, taps out questions about the limits of humanity on her transmitter key. From Nanjing to Tokyo, this pursuit spanning twenty years gradually reveals a horrifying truth: the demons were never brought to justice. They simply changed into evening clothes and went on feasting.
